Deadly Motorcycle Crash in Orange County

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on June 29, 2015

Eastbound Colonial Drive was shut down earlier this month after a fatal motorcycle accident. According to the Florida Highway Patrol a 58-year-old motorcyclist, William Forbes, was switching lanes when he collided with a van and was thrown from the vehicle. An ambulance rushed him to the nearby medical center where he passed away a short while later. The drivers of the van were unharmed.

Tragic motorcycle accidents such as this are, unfortunately, not uncommon in Florida. The year round nice weather encourages more and more people to be out driving on their bikes instead of in their cars where they are arguably more protected. We can never know what kind of drivers are accompanying us on the road so even the most experienced of motorcyclists can be severely injured in an accident. According to Ride Smart Florida, over 400 people were killed in motorcycle accidents in 2013 alone. Accidents like this serve as an important reminder of how we can be more careful on the road such as double-checking our blind spots and using blinkers.

As the weather continues to get warmer we can only expect more and more motorcyclists to be out on the road. Motorcycles are smaller than average vehicles and therefore more difficult to see. These unexpected accidents can cause victims and their family’s months of physical and/or mental trauma as well as heavy financial burdens. No matter how careful we are, accidents can still happen and when they do it is important to seek professional help such as that from the Law Offices of James O. Cunningham, P.A.

James O. Cunningham has been representing motorcycle crash victims for over 35 years. He and his team closely observe the scene of the accident to determine what happened and see whose fault is where.
