One Dead after Car Crashes into Trees Along Orlando’s Beachline
A crash involving a single vehicle along an Orange County stretch of the Beachline late on Thursday night resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man from Titusville and the injuries of two other individuals. The Florida Highway Patrol are currently investigating the situation, however they have issued a preliminary statement regarding the scenario that includes all the currently available information on the case.
In this statement, it is indicated that an unnamed 29-year-old man from Cocoa was behind the wheel of a 2003 Honda Pilot as it cruised westward down State Road 528 (also known as the Beachline). For reasons that are currently not clear, the 29-year-old lost control of the vehicle, sending it into the grass median between the west and eastbound lanes. Attempting to wrestle the car back onto the road, the driver made the common mistake of over correcting his initial error. The Honda Pilot shot back onto the road, across all the westbound lanes, and through a ditch filled with water. The car then flipped over after colliding with a pair of trees.
The Florida Highway Patrol along with various other emergency response teams arrived at the scene shortly afterward and began to provide medical assistance to the three individuals inside of the car. Christopher Cutright, one of the passengers inside of the Honda Pilot, was fatally injured in the crash. The emergency teams pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after they began attending to him.
Two other individuals, an unnamed 19-year-old man from Titusville and the aforementioned 29-year-old driver, were also injured in the crash, although their injuries were declared by the attending paramedics as being minor. Nevertheless, the two of them were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where it is believed they are still currently receiving treatment from doctors.
According to the results of the initial investigation, the Florida Highway Patrol indicate they have no reason to believe that alcohol or other drugs played any role in the accident. The investigation is still underway, and charges are still pending, however it is not clear in what direction the Florida Highway Patrol’s inquiry is headed or whether or not they are placing blame on either of the two surviving individuals.
