Orange County Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer Closes Portion of SR 528

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on March 10, 2020

On the morning of Wednesday, March 4th, police and troopers working within Orange County responded to reports of a semi-truck accident that occurred along State Road 528. According to the subsequent informational releases from the various law enforcement and emergency response agencies, the accident took place sometime before noon, although there was no further clarification regarding the precise time that the incident actually happened.

The incident is believed to have taken place close to exit 31 and the junction of State Road 520 with State Road 528. What exactly occurred to cause the incident remains unknown, but it is believed that at least one tractor-trailer was involved in the accident. Pictures from the scene showed this tractor-trailer blocking all of the eastern lanes of State Road 528 while emergency response crews – including paramedics, EMTs, firefighters, and state troopers – surrounded the crash site and tended to the injured. The first responders were also in charge of ensuring that a preliminary investigation was undertaken before the site was cleared of debris and reopened for traffic.

It is not clear for how long the lane was closed, but it is also believed that while the investigation and initial response occurred that the leftmost lane to the off-ramp connection State Road 520 ad State Road 528 was also closed. It is not clear if the road was closed due to being blocked by the tractor trailer or if it was closed because of other wreckage.

In order to properly tend to the crash site as well as take care of the various people involved in the accident emergency teams decided to close the entirety of the State Road 528. This decision resulted in numerous delays, reroutes, and traffic snarls in places otherwise unprepared for such an influx of traffic.

It is not clear if anyone was injured as a result of the crash, although the severity of the response and the size of the tractor-trailer suggest that injury is extremely likely. News agencies as well as the local emergency response teams will update this story as additional details become available and confirmed.
