Two Deaths In Pine Island Road Accident

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on August 3, 2015

A man and a woman have died in connection with an overnight crash early Thursday morning in Plantation, Florida. According to authorities, the pair was travelling in a pickup truck northbound on Pine Island Road, when they hit a light pole. Both victims were ejected from the vehicle. It is not known at this time who was driving. The female died on scene, and the male passenger was critically injured. He was being transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. This accident remains under investigation at this time and law enforcement has not commented on whether speed or alcohol were factors in this accident.

Eyewitnesses also report that after the crash, but before first responders had a chance to reach the scene of the accident, a white vehicle encountered the wrecked pickup truck and may have struck the vehicle and possibly run over the male victim. Authorities have not yet been able to track down the driver of the white vehicle.

Thursday’s early morning crash is a shocking reminder for everyone who drives on Florida’s roads of the need to buckle up for safety. Florida Highway Patrol has not indicated the exact cause of this accident, but it could be due to any number of factors including speed or alcohol, but it may also be due to factors outside of the control of the driver, such as road or lighting conditions, outside distractions, or vehicular malfunction. Many accidents happen on Florida’s road happen every day just because a driver may take his or her eyes away from the road for only a second. The actions of another driver can have serious or even deadly consequences for other people who share the road, such as other vehicles, bicyclists or pedestrians.

Though many drivers take steps to protect themselves and their passengers from the hazard that other drivers present, sometimes it is not enough.
