Florida Motorcycle Accident Kills One Rider, Injures Another
A recent motorcycle accident in Brooksville has claimed the life of a Largo woman and seriously injured a Clearwater man, according to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) accident investigators. They say that the 72-year-old victim, who was a passenger on the motorcycle and the 75-year-old male owner were going southbound on Highway 41 when their BMW motorcycle was struck by a Lincoln Towncar driven by an 88-year-old Istachatta man. The accident occurred around 5:30. p.m. near the intersection of Highway 41 and Lake Lindsay Road.
Rider Critically Injured in Florida Motorcycle Accident
A collision between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle has sent the rider to the hospital with critical injuries. The investigation is still underway, but officers with the Melbourne Police Department say the motorcycle accident occurred around 9:35 p.m. on Friday, July 22. They report that the motorcyclist was eastbound on Parkway Drive when a westbound Honda Accord failed to yield at a green light and turned in front of the rider. Police say the rider had no time to take evasive action and struck the side of the Honda. The force of the collision threw the rider more than 20 feet.
Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Accident Critically Injures One Man
A Good Samaritan who witnessed a hit-and-run motorcycle accident in Pembroke Park that critically injured a man is outraged that someone could knowingly strike a rider and then flee the scene to avoid taking responsibility for his actions. John Roxey witnessed the accident, and he, along with another witness, trailed the hit-and-run driver, apprehended him and held him until police arrived. He wanted to make sure the driver was held responsible for his actions and did not get away with leaving the scene of an accident he caused.
Lake City Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident
A motorcycle accident on the afternoon of March 11 has claimed the life of a Lake City man. Florida Highway Patrol accident investigators say the man was riding his motorcycle northbound on U.S. 441 when the driver of a Ford Escort made an illegal U-turn directly in front of him. The 59-year-old victim was rushed to Shands at Lake Shore shortly after the accident where he died of his injuries. Police say the accident occurred around 5:15 p.m. when the southbound Escort driven by a 40-year-old Lake City man attempted the U-turn to head north. In attempting the turn, the driver pulled off the shoulder of the road and turned right into the path of the victim’s 2009 Yamaha. The victim had no time to take evasive action and collided with the side of the car, which caused him to be thrown from his motorcycle. Charges are pending against the driver of the Escort.
Motorcycle Accident Closes I-4 for Several Hours
A horrific motorcycle accident closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 4 for nearly three hours recently near Maitland. Maitland Police say that there was traffic backup from the intersection with State Road 436 in Altamonte Springs to well past the intersection with Lake Mary Boulevard. Details about the crash were still unknown, but Maitland Police say the accident began when the rider collided with a car. The impact threw the rider an undisclosed distance, and he was unresponsive when paramedics arrived at the scene. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.
Two Riders Critically Injured in Florida Motorcycle Accident
Two motorcycle riders suffered critical injuries in a motorcycle accident on U.S. 27 near Broward recently. Accident investigators with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office say the accident occurred late in the evening on February 2 on U.S. 27 several miles north of the intersection with Interstate 75. County Sheriffs said one rider’s leg was severed in the accident and that he was airlifted to Broward General Medical Center for treatment. The other rider involved in the accident also suffered critical but undisclosed injuries and was transported by ambulance to Broward General. The Florida Highway Patrol closed U.S. 27 during the accident investigation and details about the accident were not released.
Teen Dies From Injuries Suffered in Florida Motorcycle Accident
A teenager who suffered serious injuries in a late December motorcycle accident died at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola recently. The 17-year-old victim was driving a Honda Shadow northbound on Pine Forest Road near Longleaf Drive around 10:15 p.m. on December 30 when he was struck by a car and thrown from his motorcycle. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, after being struck and thrown, the victim was struck again by a Ford Taurus and pinned beneath the car.
Two Riders Critically Injured in Motorcycle Accident
Two motorcyclists were critically injured after a motorcycle accident recently near Cocoa. Accident investigators say that the accident occurred around 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of State Road 524 and State Road 520. Florida Highway Patrol officers say one victim is a 43-year-old Merritt Island woman who went to Orlando Regional Medical Center and is in critical condition. The other victim is a 47-year-old Titusville man who is receiving treatment for undisclosed critical injuries at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.
