Lauderhill School Bus Crash In Parking Lot Injures 9 Students
In an incredibly unfortunate accident in Lauderhill on the afternoon of Monday, October 19th, nine students were injured in an unexpected school bus crash. At the time of the accident, it was unknown how many total students were aboard the bus. According to fire rescue officials who arrived on the scene, the incident, which occurred around 5 p.m. in a parking lot just off of Rock Island Road and Oakland Park Boulevard, was caused by a collision with a car.
According to reports, the school bus was about two miles from Park Lakes Elementary, and was carrying a number of special needs children. Unfortunately, paramedics said they had some trouble communicating with the children due to their various special needs. Even so, they were able to successfully treat the nine injured children and release all of the kids back to their parents that day. Thankfully, the nine affected children suffered only minor injuries in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle that was involved in the crash remained on scene to speak with authorities about what happened. Authorities have not released any information about what the driver told them, or what may have caused the two vehicles to collide.
Since the incident, not only have there been no new details regarding the crash itself, but there have been no updates on the status of the nine special needs victims have been released. In this case, perhaps no news is good news, and hopefully it means that the affected special needs children have recovered from their minor injuries. Normal school bus transportation activities have continued at Park Lakes Elementary with no interruption.
