Three Displaced, One Injured After Orange County Apartment Fire
A massive fire at an apartment complex located within Orange County resulted in an hours-long battle against the flames as well as at least one injury. Reports from the Orange County Fire Rescue teams indicated that the incident was first reported around 6:00 on the morning of Wednesday, October 16th. Members of the OCFR immediately rushed from their stations to the building where the fire was reported: the Cranes Landing Apartments located along Goldenrod Road.
When the first responders reached the area, they found the building in question besieged by an aggressive fire. As the firefighters began to attack the flames, members of the rescue teams also started to pull people from the building. The reports indicated that the fire was primarily located in a bottom apartment. Two of the people who were rescued were living in the apartment above the one where the fire began. It is not believed that either of these two individuals suffered from any injuries as a result of the fire.
A third person involved lived in the unit where the fire is believed to have started. This individual was rescued by fire rescue officials who had to search through the unit in order to locate the resident. It is believed that this person was rushed to the hospital in serious condition and that their injuries were primarily due to smoke inhalation. At the time of this writing it is believed that the emergency crews expect this individual to pull through the incident, although the extent of the injuries and their possible lingering effects on the resident are not clear.
In addition to the three people mentioned above, five cats were also rescued from the building.
After ten minutes of fighting the fire, rescue crews succeeded in fully extinguishing the flames. The event has now transferred into an investigation into the reasons behind the fire, which remains an object of speculation among everyone but those most connected with the case. Also unclear is just how much damage resulted from the time period during which the flames were active. Most updates to this story will be publicized in more traditional news outlets.
