11-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies in Sanford Accident

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on December 2, 2019

Officials working within Seminole County have issued a report on a terrible pedestrian accident that took place within the city of Sanford and resulted in the death of an 11-year-old child. The incident that cost the young person their life happened on Saturday, November 23rd, as the child was presumably crossing the roadway. At the time of this writing, it is not known if the incident took place near to the child’s home or if the child was accompanied by any guardian. The reports only stated that the fatal encounter between the young person and the car took place at the intersection between 25th Street and Hartwell Avenue and that it was at some point during the evening of Saturday.

No identifying information about the driver involved in the crash was released in the initial report. The authorities did make sure to mention that the investigation seems to be proving that the driver of the car was not at fault for the fatality, but little information was provided to inform the public as to how the authorities reached this conclusion.

For the family and the community to which the child belonged, the tasks ahead revolve around grieving, processing, and attempting to heal in whatever way is the most possible. Students attending the Sanford Middle School, where the 11-year-old was making their way through the 6th grade, were reportedly offered grief counseling both before and after the Thanksgiving break.

While the family and community grieve, the investigators remain on the case, attempting to tie up all the loose ends and answer all the questions posed by those who the 11-year-old leaves behind. Among the various aspects of the incident which will be explored during the investigation are the conditions of the roadway at the time of the accident, the presence or absence of pedestrian safety zones at the intersection and the information as to whether or not both the 11-year-old and the driver of the car that struck them were obeying the posted signs. As is often the case in incidents such as this, there will likely be questions that remained unanswered at the end of the investigatory procedure.
