Two Car Accident in Hollywood, Florida Leaves Two Injured
Several people were injured and taken to the hospital following a Florida car accident earlier this week. The two car collision happened on February 5, 2017 in Hollywood, Florida, near Stirling Road and North Park Road. According to local police, in addition to the two vehicles involved, several parked cars were also struck. Reports show that paramedics transported the occupants of both vehicles to a nearby hospital. The actual cause, type of injuries or number of people in the vehicles remains unknown.
Although details are limited, we do know that:
- There was a car accident
- At least two people were injured
- Several other vehicles were damaged
Based on what we do know, it is likely that this two vehicle Florida motor vehicle accident will result in at least several law suits. For example, the owners of the parked cars that were also hit will be able to sue for the damage that their vehicles sustained. Likewise, at least one of the injured persons will be able to sue to be compensated for their image and, depending on the cause of the accident, there is a possibility that both could sue. This is because the ability for one to seek compensation via a lawsuit for injuries and/or damages from a motor vehicle accident depends on who is at fault.
According to Florida law, if Driver A acts negligently or recklessly and this behavior causes the injury and/or damage to Driver B, than Driver B can sue Driver A in order to be compensated for their injuries. Likewise, the owners of the parked cars will be able to sue Driver A for the damage that their negligence caused to their vehicles. If, however, both Driver A and Driver B were at fault, then the concept of contributory negligence could become a factor. Although contributory negligence is a complex legal concept, in summary it means that one’s ability to seek compensation can be reduced in accordance with how much fault lies with them.
