One Dead, Three Injured in Orlando After Rolls-Royce Crashes Into Tree
On Saturday, February 15th, 2021, a single-car crash within the City of Orlando resulted in numerous victims including one fatality and three others suffering from serious injuries. According to early reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash remains under investigation as authorities attempt to uncover what happened to cause the driver of the car, a Rolls-Royce, to suddenly lose control.
A preliminary investigation into the incident suggests that it took place sometime around 1:00 in the morning, while a 32-year-old Philadelphia resident was behind the wheel of a Rolls-Royce and traveling down the northern lanes of Dallas Boulevard. In the car with the 32-year-old was a 34-year-old from Philadelphia and two other passengers, also from Philadelphia.
Witnesses to the accident told the police that the Rolls-Royce approached a stop sign situated at the intersection of Dallas Boulevard and Starry Street, an intersection that lies in the southeastern part of Orlando. By all accounts, the trajectory of the Rolls-Royce up until this moment was fairly unremarkable, which makes the fact that the driver failed to stop at the stop sign somewhat unusual.
After shooting through the intersection, other vehicles passing through the area managed to avoid the car as it then departed from the roadway. The driver was clearly awake at this point, as they attempted to pull the car back onto the road, a move that resulted in them overcorrecting the vehicle’s trajectory. The car swerved onto the asphalt and then back off of it again as it charged towards a ditch. The driver was not able to regain control of the car, and it struck the ditch and a fence on its way toward a large tree located alongside of the roadway.
The car collided with the tree while still traveling at a high rate of speed. This resulted in significant damage being done to the luxury vehicle, as well as all four of the individuals located within the vehicle. While the driver and two of the passengers only suffered from minor injuries, the 34-year-old passenger sitting in the front seat was severely injured. When paramedics and EMTs reached the crash site, there was nothing they could do for this person, and they were declared dead at the scene.
While the crash remains under investigation, it is known that none of the individuals within the car was wearing a seatbelt at the time.
