Fatal Single-Car Crash in Mount Dora

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on July 15, 2020

Following a collision on Monday, July 13th, members of the Florida Highway Patrol within Lake County are working on an investigation into the incident and its subsequent fatality. It was very early in the morning when a 37-year-old individual was traveling down County Road 448A. These early morning hours see County Road 448A far less busy than usual, and it is believed that no one witnessed the auto accident which involved the 37-year-old within their sedan.

The name of the driver of the sedan was not supplied in any of the initial reports. It is believed that this person was alone in the car and also that no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The Florida Highway Patrol within Lake County remains engaged in trying to discover just what it was that took place to cause the incident, but the initial reports did state that the driver of the vehicle lost control of their car while they were traveling down County Road 448A close to the intersection of this road with Ruth Street. This stretch of road is also a part of Mount Dora, although we do not know if the individual was a resident of this town or of some other area.

Before the 37-year-old was able to regain control of their car, it swerved off of the roadway. Close to the road at this point is a small line of trees, and as the driver struggled to regain control of the vehicle they neared these trees while still traveling at a high rate of speed. When the sedan struck the trees, it was with a considerable amount of force. This caused the sedan to overturn an unknown number of times.

While we do not know if the driver of the sedan was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, we do know that the injuries they suffered as a result of the collision with the trees and the subsequent overturning of their vehicles resulted in them sustaining severe injuries. When the police, paramedics, and EMTs reached the scene, there was nothing that they could do for the individual, and he was declared dead at the scene of the crash.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
