Driver Dies After Losing Control of Car on Orange Blossom Trail

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on October 29, 2018

A collision involving multiple cars in Orange County resulted in the death of one individual on Saturday, October 20th. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol working within Orange County indicated that the incident happened along Orange Blossom Trail, close to where this road intersects with 35th Street and that it took place around 3:00 in the morning.

The precise chain of events that led to this happening is currently under investigation, but we do know several of the more important facts that relate to this collision and death. At the above-mentioned time, an unnamed individual was behind the wheel of a 2008 BMW 328i as it made its way down the southern lane of Orange Blossom Trail. According to the official report, the driver of this car was piloting it in such a way that it was traveling far above the posted speed. It is not clear how this was ascertained, but likely this conclusion took into account the level of damage as as well as the spread of debris after the collision itself.

As the BMW neared 35th Street, something happened within the car to cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. In the following moments, the car swerved around the road, quickly veering into the back of a 2010 Toyota Yaris that was also traveling down the southern lane of Orange Blossom Trail. After hitting the Yaris, the BMW then left the roadway and struck – not necessarily in this order – a tree, a fence, and two cars that were parked in the lot of a dealership located near to OBT. The BMW then erupted into flames.

Emergency services from around the county rushed to the location of the crash to tend to those involved. Unfortunately, paramedics and EMTs were not able to access the driver of the BMW in time, and they were declared dead at the scene. No information exists on whether the driver died before the fire began or if it was the smoke and flame that caused them to perish.

The driver of the Yaris was reportedly not injured in the incident, and both of the parked cars were unoccupied at the time.
