Owner of Pit Bull That Bit Two Florida Boys Fights to Save Dog’s Life

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on August 6, 2012

The owner of Champ, a pit bull that attacked two boys last August, has hired an attorney to save the dog’s life. Orlando dog bite attorney James O. Cunningham has been following developments in the case very closely and is waiting for the 5th District Court of Appeal in Daytona Beach to make their decision in the case. Anthony Coleman of Pine Hills is Champ’s owner. He claims that Orange County officials unfairly sentenced his dog to be euthanized after it attacked and bit two boys that trespassed on his property last summer. Orange County Animal Services has been in custody of the animal since the incident while Coleman filed one petition after another to prevent authorities from executing the county court’s order to euthanize the animal.

Florida Supreme Court May Issue Ruling On Orlando’s Red Light Cameras

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on August 6, 2012

In a development that James O. Cunningham and other Orlando personal injury lawyers are monitoring very closely, Orlando city officials have announced that they may ask the Florida Supreme Court to determine the legality of their red light camera ticket program. A recent ruling by the 5th District Court of Appeal ruled that when the city began the program, Orlando was preempted from launching it at the time because that decision should be made at the state level. Despite the Court of Appeal’s ruling, Florida laws governing red light camera ticket programs have changed, allowing local governments to begin such programs and making the court’s ruling moot.

2012 a Deadly Year for Florida Boating Accidents

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on August 3, 2012

So far this year, 28 people have been killed in Florida boating accidents, and safety officials are concerned that that number could climb significantly during the busy summer boating season. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) recently issued a report, which indicates that our state’s coastal waters are especially dangerous for boaters, particularly those who don’t wear a life jacket or are passengers on a boat piloted by someone who has not taken a boating safety course. Orlando boating accident attorney James O. Cunningham is alarmed at the numbers of people killed and injured in Florida boating accidents this year and urges everyone to wear a life vest and exercise extra caution on the water.

2013 Ford Escape Models Recalled for Engine Fire Risk

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on August 3, 2012

Ford Motor Company recently issued an announcement that all owners of 2013 Ford Escape sports utility vehicles equipped with four-cylinder 1.6-liter motors should stop driving them immediately due to a fire risk in the engine compartment. Ford has acknowledged that a fuel line could split and leak, causing leaking fuel to come in contact with hot engine parts and ignite. Ford says the recall affects around 11,500 Escape models, mostly sold in Canada and the U.S. Many of the Escape models affected by the recall are still at dealerships, but around 4,800 have been sold to customers. Escape owners are advised to contact their local Ford dealership immediately so that loaner vehicles can be arranged and their Escapes can be picked up and taken to the dealership for repair.
