RSSTruck Crashes Into St. Augustine Home
It’s every homeowner’s fear: unexpectedly, your house suffers significant damage due to a terrible accident. Around 6:25 p.m. on Sunday, October 18th, a truck crashed into the side of a woman’s St. Augustine home. The home, located at 27 Ocean Way, sustained minor structural damage as a result.
Luckily, according to the victim’s son, Kevin Owens, no one was inside the house when the truck crashed into it. Owens told reporters that some of the foundation had been busted, and a portion of the plaster on an interior wall was broken. He also said that he thought that the truck was attempting to round the corner at the intersection, misjudged the degree of the turn, and ended up hitting the side of his mother’s house. Needless to say, repairs to the property damage caused by the incident are likely to cost a pretty penny.
Although Owens did express concern that his mother could have been sitting inside the living room and been hit by the truck when it crashed, he also admitted that despite the mess, he was glad that things hadn’t turned out worse. He said that he was “very surprised,” as such an incident was “not what [he] expected on a Sunday evening.”
According to St. Augustine Fire Rescue Captain Fittipaldi, the driver of the truck that hit the house was taken to a local hospital with only minor injuries. So far, no additional details from the incident have been released, including the name of the homeowner or the driver, or their current statuses. Authorities have also not said whether the truck driver will face any criminal charges in connection with the incident. However, it is likely that local police will conduct an investigation to determine what charges — if any—may be brought.
