Orlando Man Dies After Being Hit by Truck

Twenty-one-year-old Joel Moore was walking westbound across Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando when he was hit by a landscaping truck. According to witnesses, Moore was crossing the street around 9am Thursday morning when he stopped to speak with someone in a vehicle waiting for the traffic light. When he continued to finish crossing the street he was struck by driver Rafael Martinez. Martinez claims to have had a green light. Police are still determining the details of what happened. The pedestrian was rushed to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where he later passed away.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Moore is the third pedestrian to have been hit and killed in that area of Orlando this year. The loss of young lives is always tragic and should always serve as an important reminder to constantly be aware of your surroundings, especially in traffic. The FHP sergeant on the scene stated that police “don’t believe speed is a factor here, but unfortunately when a car hits a pedestrian, it’s very traumatic on the body, and people don’t often survive” ( It is important for victims of pedestrian accidents and their families to seek immediate legal assistance. James O. Cunningham of Orlando, Florida has been representing victims for over 30 years to help them get the compensation they need from unexpected accidents.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Orlando area alone recorded almost 600 pedestrian deaths in the last ten years.
