DeLand Man Killed by Train
On Wednesday morning, Darren Ross, a 57-year-old from DeLand, was struck by a southbound train near the intersection of Walker Street and LPGA Boulevard. According to the report issued by the Holly Hill police department, Ross was likely initially struck by the train around 12:35 a.m. in Putnam County. His body, however, remained undiscovered until 6:35 a.m., right around dawn, after two other trains had already passed through the area. Another conductor, northbound on the tracks, saw Ross’s body on the tracks and notified the police.
