Multiple-vehicle Pileup Accident On I-75 in Florida Injures Many Victims
A pileup accident occurred on Florida’s I-75 along the Gulf Coast on Friday. Police say that dozens of vehicles were involved, and it has been reported that 52 people were hurt. According to Lt. Chris Miller with the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. and involved at least 46 vehicles that were traveling southbound on I-75 on the Manatee/Sarasota county line. The pileup resulted in over 20 accident victims being taken to area hospitals. Three of them were in critical condition. The FHP also said that none of the injuries was considered to be life-threatening. "Quite a few had minor injuries that didn’t require transport," Lt. Miller said. He added that weather was a contributing factor as the accident occurred at about the time that an afternoon thunderstorm struck the area.
