East Colonial Drive Motorycle Accident
28-year-old Motorcyclist Dead After Being Thrown from Bike and Dragged 1/4 of a Mile
A horrific traffic accident occurred on Saturday night that left one man dead and charges potentially being leveled against two others. According to the Florida Highway Patrol’s report, James Lorraine, a 28-year-old, was driving his motorcycle westbound on East Colonial Drive, close to where it crosses State Road 417. At this same moment, a Nissan Sentra, driven by the 23-year-old Christopher Shuman, was turning across East Colonial Drive in order to access the highway. Shuman, who had a yield sign, either ignored the sign or did not see the motorcyclist. He cut directly in front of Lorraine, causing Lorraine to collide with the side of Shuman’s vehicle and fly off his bike.
