Boy Nearly Drowns in Orlando Area Theme Park Hotel Pool
Orange County Fire Rescue officials report that a 3-year-old boy nearly drowned recently in an incident at an Orlando area theme park resort. Officials said the incident occurred at the Liki Tiki Village near Winter Garden around 1:30 p.m. Orlando premises liability attorneys are following developments in the case, as it occurred at the same resort where an infant girl was found dead in one of the rooms the previous month.
According to a statement issued by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the boy had been swimming in the pool when he was found face down and unresponsive in the pool by another resort guest.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Lourdes Clayton said that, "CPR was performed and the child was able to breathe on his own. The child was transported to the hospital for precautionary measures. (Our) investigation is ongoing."
The boy was flown by helicopter to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he is receiving treatment. His condition has not been released. The Liki Tiki Village is located near U.S. 192 around 7 miles west of Walt Disney World.
According to swimming pool accident statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, children between the ages of 1 and 4 are the people most likely to drown and that most drowning accidents for this age group occur in swimming pools. The CDC also said that most kids who drown are out of sight for less than five minutes.
