Abandoned House Burns Down at Daytona Beach
Early Saturday morning in Daytona Beach, the Daytona Beach Fire Department was called from their quiet daybreak to battle a raging fire at 345 Taylor Avenue. The emergency call occurred around 4:45 in the morning, immediately causing the dispatch of multiple engines and other units to the address of the fire. and by the time the firefighters arrived the single-story house was fully engulfed in flames.
The firefighters noticed immediately that the home was completely boarded up, and there was no evidence that anyone was in the building or in any immediate danger. After a short period of time, the building, which is estimated at 900 square feet, collapsed in upon itself.
The initial reports given by the Daytona Beach Fire Department indicate that the fire was completely contained within the abandoned structure. Furthermore, the reports state that as of right now no injuries have been reported due to the blaze. As there are no other homes close by, the fire was relatively simple to contain, and no other structures or homes were affected in any way by the sudden and uncontrollable fire that destroyed the abandoned building.
Because of the unusual nature of the case and the lack of evidence regarding the specific cause of the fire, the State Fire Marshal has been called in and is undertaking a complete investigation of the scene.
Fires such as this one are obviously an extremely dangerous event. Had there been anyone in the building, or had sparks been picked up by the wind and taken further afield, then the consequences might have been less benign than they currently are. The rapidity with which a fire can spread is alarming, and there is no guarantee that small looking flame will not, in a matter of seconds, become an out-of-control conflagration that destroys property and lives.
Unfortunately, many fires have far more disastrous consequences than this Daytona Beach one. Especially in cases where property damage or personal injury has occurred, it is imperative to uncover the reasons behind the fire and the individual or individuals responsible. Only when this happens will the victims be able to ensure that complete financial recovery for their losses will take place.
