Road Rage Incident Leaves One Injured in Apopka

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on August 17, 2017

A 74 year old male driver is accused of ramming his Corvette into an SUV multiple times in a fit of road rage. According to police, the SUV was traveling west on Wekiva Springs Road when he tried to pass a 2005 yellow Corvette. However, the Corvette wouldn’t let him pass and, when he finally did pass, the Corvette ‘played games’ with the SUV. When the SUV turned into the entrance of the Sweetwater West subdivision, the Corvette sideswiped him, backed up, hit the car again and then rammed the SUV one more time before speeding away. This left the SUV backed into a pole sideways and at risk of being hit by oncoming traffic.

According to Apopka police, the driver of the Corvette then went to the police station and filed a complaint alleging that he was attacked by another driver. However, seeing the damage to the front end of the Corvette, police were able to piece together what actually happened and arrested the driver, charging him with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

The driver of the SUV was treated for chest pains at Florida Hospital Altamonte.

In the case at hand, not only was the driver of the Corvette guilty of a criminal act, he is also, in all likelihood, to be found guilty of driving negligently. Whenever the negligent action (i.e., driving) is the cause of an accident that leaves another injured, than the injured party can file a personal injury lawsuit against the negligent party seeking damages. Thus, the driver of the SUV can seek damages, not only for any injuries he sustained, but also for the significant damage done to his vehicle. More so, if his injuries require ongoing medical treatment or cause him to lose time from work, he can seek compensation for all of these expenses too.

If you or a loved one are the victim of a Florida road rage related injury, you have the right to seek compensation for your injuries and any damage done to your car. To learn more, contact the Law Offices of James O. Cunningham, P.A. today.
