Four-Year-Old Child Drowns in Volusia County Pond
Tragedy struck in Osteen during the end of October when a 4-year-old child went missing only to be found shortly afterwards floating in a pond. The drowning accident was reported on by deputies with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department. According to the initial statements on the subject, the 4-year-old was in the garage with his father and several siblings shortly before they were discovered in the pond. It was a Saturday, and the family was gathered in the garage. It is not clear how many people were in the garage at the time, but the wording of the report made it clear that the father of the 4-year-old as well as several siblings were all together.
Ocoee Resident Dies After Fall While Trimming Tree
As Hurricane Dorian swings closer and closer to Florida, millions of people throughout the state have been putting tremendous time and energy into making their homes and properties as safe as possible. Included in this are activities such as boarding up windows, securing vehicles, and trimming up trees. It was this last activity specifically that killed a 55-year-old individual from Ocoee sometime during the evening of Monday, September 2nd.
One Dead After ATV Flips in Osceola County
The Florida Highway Patrol was on hand to respond to reports of an ATV accident that occurred in Osceola County on the night of Saturday, May 18th. According to the subsequent reports, the incident happened at around 9:30 at night, and involved two individuals who were traveling throughout a private property on a side-by-side ATV, which is a small off-road (all-terrain vehicle) machine that is often able to carry up to six people. These vehicles are often used on farms or on large properties where people routinely need to get from one end to another quickly.
Class-Action Lawsuit Filed against Two Companies for Poisoning Drinking Water
A half-dozen employees of the Florida State Fire College inside of Ocala have banded together in order to try and win a legal battle against the companies that make a certain type of fire retardant foam. According to the legal filing, the Florida State Fire College employees stated that they had each suffered from tremendous injury and health problems as a result of prolonged consumption of the drinking water used by the college.
Person Found in Burning Car in Orlando
A car fire in the city of Orlando resulted in one person being hospitalized on Friday, September 14th. It was around 4:40 in the afternoon when the first reports of a car fire began to reach the emergency response crews working within this part of Orange County. Fittingly, the Orlando Fire Department was first to reach the scene, and it is believed that this crew began to battle the flames shortly after the call reached them regarding the emergency. It is not, however, known just how long after the fire started that the emergency services were first contacted.
Port Orange Woman Dies in Early Morning House Fire
A Port Orange woman died this past Thursday after a fire broke out inside of her home and she was unable to escape from the flames. According to an official report from the fire officials within the Port Orange Fire Department, the first reports of the fire came into the station at around 12:30 in the morning. These reports indicated that the flames and smoke were beginning to become visible at 1000 4th Street, within the city of Port Orange.
Florida Car Accident Kills One, Injures Others
A Daytona Beach car accident has left one person dead and another injured. The Accident happened on Monday at East International Boulevard and Beach street when, according to local police, a Ford Escape traveling at a speed of up to 90 mph hit an eastbound Buick. The driver of the Buick, a pregnant woman, was taken to a nearby hospital where she is said to be in stable condition. The passenger, a male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Orange County Construction Worker Struck by Car
Early on the morning of Friday, May 25th, a 42-year-old construction worker at work on a routine project along State Road 417 in Orange County was badly injured after he was struck by a car passing through the construction zone. According to initial reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place at some point in the early morning rush hour, while many people were traveling along the roads on their way to work.
Orange County House Fire Injures One
Orange County Fire Rescue personnel are currently investigating a house fire that is believed to be responsible for the hospitalization of at least one person inside of Orange County. Statements from this official organization indicate that they first received reports of the fire on Saturday, although it is not clear at what time the first calls to the OCFR reached the emergency response teams.
