Orlando Car Accident Leaves Two Injured
According to police reports, two people were injured following a fiery crash between an SUV and a tractor trailer. The Orlando automobile accident happened in the morning of Monday, December 11th at the intersection of Millenia Boulevard and West Oak Ridge Road.
When the police arrived at the scene, they found the SUV jammed and on fire under the semi-trailer with one of its occupants trapped inside. Another occupant had managed to escape from the vehicle. Emergency first responders used several fire extinguishers in an attempt to prevent the victim from burning while others pulled them out.
Both of the occupants were transported to the hospital. The one who had been trapped in the car is reported to have suffered life-threatening injuries, while the other occupant has suffered minor injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash.
As the accident remains under investigation, no further information on what caused it is available. If, however, it is found that the driver of the semi-truck was at fault, then the two injured occupants of the SUV will be able to file a personal injury lawsuit against him (or his employer) and seek damages. These damages often include medical expenses and loss of wages. Examples of the type of medical expenses you can receive compensation for include:
- Physical therapy
- Cognitive therapy
- Ambulance fees
- Consultations
- Medical equipment (crutches, etc.)
- Pain and suffering
- Permanent disability
- In-home services
- Future medical expenses
If the injuries mean you can no longer work or cause you to have to take time off from work (such as for medical appointments or limited mobility) and, as a result, you are not able to earn your usual wages, then you can sue for lost wages. If you can show that your injuries have diminished your ability to or prohibit you from earning money in the future, then you can also seek damages for future loss of wages.
