Car Runs Stop Sign, Hits Car and House in Sanford

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on September 27, 2017

A two vehicle crash in Sanford, Florida this week left one person dead and a nearby home damaged. According to the local police, the car accident happened around midnight when a blue Mazda sedan was speeding northbound on Bay Avenue. Failing to stop at a stop sign, the Mazda struck an oncoming vehicle traveling east on 7th Street. The impact of the crash caused the Mazda to become airborne. The vehicle then slammed into a power pole, tearing it in two and ejecting the driver and sending the back end of the vehicle flying over a fence and into the side of a nearby house.

The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was treated at Central Florida Regional Hospital and released with minor injuries. Luckily, nobody at the house was injured.

Although in the case at hand the driver of the Mazda, who was clearly at fault, died, that does not mean the other injured parties are without recourse. Both the other driver and the owner of the house will be able to seek damages by filing a lawsuit against the deceased driver’s estate. The driver of the other vehicle will be able to seek compensation for their medical treatment – including hospital costs, future treatment and any loss of earnings due to missing work – along with compensation for the damage done to their car. The owner(s) of the house will also be able to seek compensation for the damage done to their fence, yard and home.

Getting the compensation you deserve can be a complicated and frustrating process – especially when the party being sued was killed in the accident. It becomes even more complex if the deceased was uninsured and/or if there is not sizable estate. This is why it is highly advised that you seek the advice of an experienced Orlando personal injury attorney.
