Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Car On Colonial Drive

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on April 11, 2018

Witnesses to an accident between a car and a pedestrian on Colonial Drive in Orange County say that the situation began when two pedestrians became involved in an argument. The Florida Highway Patrol’s report states that it was on Sunday, April 8th, when the incident that lead to the death of one of the people involved in the verbal altercation began.

We know that a 20-year-old was standing on one side of Colonial Drive and that another man, who was not described in any way, was standing in the median of the same road. The two men were, as mentioned above, arguing about something, although it is not clear if they knew each other. Also unclear is what happened to precipitate the argument in the first place. Crash witnesses say that during the aggressive interaction, something occurred to cause the 20-year-old to decide to leave the sidewalk, and begin crossing Colonial Drive. It is not clear if the 20-year-old was planning on assaulting the other individual or if some other motivation propelled him forwards.

It was while this man was crossing the busy road that he walked directly into the path of an oncoming car that was not able to avoid striking him in time. It is not clear if the driver of the car was able to slow down at all, and the report failed to mention the speed limit of the area, but we do know that because of the injuries that he sustained in the collision between his body and the car the young man died.

Due to the fact that the investigation into the incident is still very much ongoing, most of the other details in the case are either being withheld from the public or are simply not known. It does seem that the Florida Highway Patrol, while they were able to identify the deceased man, remained unable to identify either the person engaged in the argument or the driver of the car that struck the pedestrian. These facts and others are currently the focus of an investigation into the deadly crash, and it is believed that additional reports will follow as more information is gathered.
