Florida Trooper Chases Down Hit-and-Run Driver

A Florida Highway patrolman chased down a hit-and-run driver in his own damaged vehicle following the incident Wednesday afternoon. The suspect ran a red light at the intersection of West Colonial Drive and Hiawassee Road, striking the police cruiser. The driver then attempted to flee the scene by driving on to a nearby apartment complex. The patrolman pursued the suspect and apprehended him as the suspect fled on foot.

This incident is especially disturbing to law enforcement as it illustrates the blatant disregard hit-and-run drivers have for their victims. If the patrolman had been severely injured and unable to pursue, the driver may never have been caught.
