Driver Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident in Kissimmee

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on March 22, 2014

Florida Highway Patrol troopers recently charged a Kissimmee woman in connection with a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident that claimed the life of a 65-year-old man. Troopers said that they arrested the 27-year-old driver after receiving a tip about her severely damaged 2003 Kia Spectra. When confronted, she admitted to FHP traffic homicide investigators that she had struck and killed the man. She led troopers to the garage, where they found damage on the vehicle consistent with evidence collected at the accident scene.

"Its right rearview mirror was missing and it also had windshield damages which (were) consistent with a crash involving a pedestrian," the arrest report stated. "She was read her Miranda rights and she admitted to driving (the car) at time of the crash. In addition, she dozed off and drifted off the roadway and struck a pole."

Troopers report that the accident occurred near the corner of Carroll Street and Orange Blossom, around 2.5 miles from the driver’s home. She was booked into Osceola County Jail, where she faces first-degree felony charges of failure to stop and remain at a crash involving death.
