Teenage Girl Killed in Dade City Crash
Dade City is mourning 17-year-old Jordan Ivie who was killed in a car accident on April 24th. She and her boyfriend were running errands that morning, when they veered of the road to avoid an oncoming vehicle and hit four trees before coming to a stop. Both the driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts, and emergency responders airlifted Ivie to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery before she was eventually pronounced dead.
Since her death, the community has convened for a vigil at the football field, and will continue to hold events in her name. Often, people assume that when teenagers are in an accident, alcohol or inattentive driving is involved. But that is not always the case, and in this instance another driver in the wrong lane ended up costing Jordan Ivie her life.
