Saturday Night Crash in Orlando Leaves 55-Year-Old Dead

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on March 22, 2017

A crash that occurred on Saturday night in Orlando is responsible for leaving one man dead. Several vehicles in the multi-car accident received damage, but other than the one individual no-one is believed to have suffered from injuries. According to the report issued by Florida Highway Patrol troopers, the accident took place in the west-bound lanes of Sand Lake Road, close to 9:00 on Saturday evening. The details of the accident are not complete, and there are certain gaps in the information given by the authorities, but there are a few facts that are considered accurate enough to have been confirmed by the authorities.

William Luis, a 55-year-old Orlando resident, was driving his Hyundai along the westbound lanes of Sand Lake Road when he approached a red light. Luis was traveling behind another car, and this car, following standard driving procedures, slowed down and stopped for the traffic light. Luis, for reasons that are currently unknown, did not stop, and it is not certain whether or not he ever began to slow down. What is known is that he continued forward at a surprising speed and struck the rear end of the car before him. After this, Luis’ vehicle ricocheted off of the other car and crossed into the Sand Lake Road’s eastbound lanes.

Miraculously, Luis managed to avoid striking any vehicles that may have been traveling along the eastbound lanes of Sand Lake Road, however he did not manage to regain control of his vehicle. Traveling horizontally across the eastbound lanes, Luis’ car continued along its way until it collided with a utility pole. The emergency response teams set out as soon as they got the call, but when they arrived the damage had already been done. Luis was transported to a hospital located nearby, but when he arrived he was declared dead by the doctors.

It is not known whether or not the fatal injuries were delivered after the first accident or if it was the result of his collision with the utility pole that caused Luis to perish. It is also not currently known whether or not Luis was under the influence of any chemical factors when the accident occurred.
