Possible Pensacola Street Racing Incident Goes Out of Control
A Pensacola man has died after allegedly losing control of his car and crashing into a pole, a fence and two parked cars. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver was 25 year old Jerrandin Pankey.
Pankey was driving his Chevrolet Camaro southbound on W Street, coming from Truman Avenue when he lost control and swerved in a southeast direction. His car, which was rotating counter-clockwise, crossed the northbound lanes and headed towards a curb, where the right rear crashed into a utility pole before hitting a fence and two parked cars.
As a result of the injuries caused by this accident, Pankey was pronounced dead at the scene by the Escambia County EMS. No other people were injured in the incident. According to a preliminary investigation, it seems that the driver was racing southbound on W Street, possibly against a gray Ford Focus. The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident and is asking that anyone with any information to please contact them immediately.
If you or a loved one have been injured in a Florida automobile accident you could be legally entitled to compensation for your injuries. According to Florida law, if your injuries were caused by a negligent or reckless act of another then you can suit for damages. These damages can include, but are not limited to: repayment for medical and hospital costs, damage to vehicle, future medical costs (such as surgery and/or physical therapy), loss of income, future loss of income and, in some cases, emotional distress.
The key to filing a successful personal injury claim is to take action right away. This means first and foremost going to a doctor to treat your injuries. Even if you don’t think your injuries are serious enough to warrant a trip to the hospital, do so anyways to ensure you have an official medical transcript attached to your case. Next, do not talk to any insurance company about your injuries until after you have talked to an experienced Florida personal injury attorney, doing so could jeopardize your right to later file a suit.
