Head-On Collision in Palm Bay
A 23 year old female is reported to be seriously injured following a head-on collision in Palm Bay, Florida. According to police, the driver was driving her Mazda 636 the wrong way towards the intersection of Degroodt and Section roads. Police say the driver was in the wrong lane – for reasons that remain unclear – when she collided with an oncoming vehicle. The driver was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, where her condition remains unknown.
It was a busy day for Palm Bay Police as, shortly after this head-on collision, another accident happened. This crash occurred at the intersection of Talavera Street and Rada Avenue. According to the police report, the driver of a white van ran into another vehicle after failing to stop at a stop sign. There were reports of minor injuries to occupants of both vehicles, although details on who was injured and how bad have not been released.
Driving the wrong way on a one way street and failing to stop at a stop sign are both examples of negligent driving. When someone else’s negligent driving causes a car accident, and that accident results in an injury and/or damage to property, the negligent driver can be held liable for those injuries and/or damages. In other words, the victim who sustained the injuries has the right to file a personal injury lawsuit against the negligent driver in order to get compensation for their injuries. This included receiving money for such damages as:
- Medical bills
- Vehicle repair
- Ongoing medical treatment
- Loss of income
- Future loss of income
- Pain and suffering
- Emotional distress
