Florida Man Miraculously Survives Acrobatic Automobile Accident

A Florida man made headlines recently with a harrowing automobile crash in DeLand last weekend. For yet-unknown reasons, the driver lost control of his vehicle, sending it tumbling over two blocks along busy Woodland Boulevard, hitting a mailbox, bouncing off several parked ATVs and, as one eye witness recounts “doing four or five 360s in the air”.  And that was just the first act. After the car finally stopped flipping down the road and came to a rest upside down, smoke immediately started billowing from its interior.

The driver was then flown to a nearby helicopter for emergency treatment. One witness told a local television news channel that he and several other bystanders came running towards the car with fire extinguishers and began to put the fire out. “We flipped the car over in order to pull the guy out so he didn’t burn alive, but couldn’t pull him out of the windows because the car was completely crushed,” he says. Instead, several people cut the driver free of his seatbelt before lifting him out via the car’s sunroof.

Once the driver was pulled to safety, the police and paramedics arrived and took over. Emergency response flew the driver to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford. According to local news reports, he was treated for trauma sustained in a Florida motor vehicle crash. Remarkably, no one else was injured in the crash. First responders also gave credit to the bystanders, noting that if it was not for their quick action and bravery, the driver most likely would not have lived.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
