Lynx Bus Causes Rear-End Collision in Orlando
This past Sunday afternoon, a Lynx bus driving through the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail and Landstreet Road was involved in an accident that sent minimally five people to the hospital. The Orange County Fire Rescue officials have released a statement outlining the events as they are currently known, however additional details are still emerging, and it may take some time before the true facts are understood. According to the initial report, however, the crash happened close to 3:45 in the afternoon, shortly after the Orlando rush-hour begins.
The Lynx bus, a popular form of mass-transit for many in the Orlando area, was traveling along its scheduled route. Nearing the above-mentioned intersection, it seems that the Lynx bus failed to stop at the appropriate time. As a direct result of the bus driver’s failure to adequately respond to the level of traffic before them, the bus slammed into a vehicle in its path. This collision caused the car to lurch forward and crash into another car.
All in all, three vehicles were involved in this accident. Officials with the Orlando Police Department, the Orange County Fire Rescue, and the Florida Highway Patrol arrived quickly on the scene and began to assess the damage and assist the injured. Three of those pulled from the affected vehicles were rushed to Health Central Hospital. The other two who are known to have been injured in the crash were taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital.
Other than these five, it is not believed that any of the other people involved required emergency medical assistance.
According to Florida State Troopers, the injuries suffered by those who were taken to the hospital were fortunately considered fairly minor. They were all released in the following days.
While no-small miracle that the damage inflicted on those involved was not worse, it is a mistake to assume that just because the hospital released them that they are not going to continue suffering from adverse effects as a direct result of the crash. Because of the intense physical trauma linked to car crashes, the possibility that anyone involved in a car accident will begin to experience physical health problems as a result of the accident is relatively high. It is important to remember that in the aftermath of any car accident.
