Orlando Plane Crash Kills Two

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on January 18, 2011

Two people died recently in an Orlando-area plane accident when their aircraft crashed in Kissimmee on February 2. The Federal Aviation Administration reported that the plane crashed while on approach to land at Kissimmee Gateway Airport. A FAA spokesman said that the aircraft crashed on a nearby softball diamond and broke into several pieces, fatally injuring the pilot and his passenger. The airplane accident injured no one on the ground, and local officials reported that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is also investigating the crash.

Complete details about the victims of the fatal aviation accident have yet to be released but a NTSB spokesman said the aircraft was a Fouga CM-170 Magister, a two-seat jet trainer manufactured by the French company Air Fouga. Many details about the accident have yet to be released, but pilot error, poorly maintained aircraft or defective airplane parts usually cause accidents involving smaller aircraft like this one.

Florida’s climate makes for ideal flying conditions nearly every day of the year, and each year, our state has the unfortunate distinction of being one of the top states for aviation accidents in the country. If federal investigators find that the aircraft owner was negligent and failed to properly maintain the aircraft, anyone injured or the families of those killed in an aviation accident can seek damages.
