RSSSingle Vehicle Rollover in Ocala Injures Two
A single vehicle rollover accident early Saturday evening sent two victims to the hospital and one victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Florida Highway Patrol reports that the single vehicle accident occurred just after 7pm Saturday night on I-75. The driver of a late model Ford Explorer appeared to lose control of the vehicle for an unknown reason while traveling southbound on the interstate. The vehicle left the roadway and ended up on the right shoulder where paramedics found the wreck. The deceased was a male passenger in the Explorer. A man and a woman were also transported to area hospitals with life threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this time and the incident remains under investigation. It is also unclear at this point whether all occupants of the vehicle were belted in. No other vehicles were involved.
Single vehicle accidents are one of the most common types of accidents on Florida’s Highways year to date. There are a variety of causes for these accidents including driver distraction, vehicle malfunction, speeding, or driving under the influence to name a few. As a passenger in a vehicle, you are encouraged to also keep your safety in mind. Always wear your safety belt. Never get into a vehicle when you know that the driver has been drinking.
