Kissimmee Crash Injures 4, Kills Kissimmee Man

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on August 11, 2014

An early morning accident near the intersection of Indian Point Boulevard and Poinciana Boulevard has claimed the life of one Kissimmee man and sent four others to the hospital. According to authorities, a northbound car driven by the Kissimmee man crossed the center line into the path of two oncoming vehicles. One vehicle managed to avoid the collision, but the other driver was not so lucky. The head-on collision that followed resulted in the death of the driver of the northbound driver and severe injuries to those in the southbound SUV.

Head-on collisions are one of the most deadly types of accidents, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. This is due in part to the complete transfer of energy from both vehicles to the other, none of it is dissipated as it would be in a glancing collision. The higher the speed in any collision, the greater the damage to property and life. Though we may not think about it, driving is one of the most dangerous activities Americans engage in on a daily basis. And an accident doesn’t necessarily happen to those who are at fault. It may be caused by a driver who just happens to be in your vicinity.

The Florida Highway Patrol cites the three top contributors to automobile accidents as distracted driving, speeding, and failure to adjust to changing road conditions such as slowing down when it is raining. All three of these behaviors have a human component, meaning that the driver makes a choice to behave in a particular manner. This choice can have devastating consequences for other motorists. Accidents are usually unintentional, but that can be small consolation to the family who is grieving for a loved one or dealing with the aftermath of a serious injury.
