Fatal Head-On Collision with Delivery Truck in Orlando

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on November 10, 2017

An Orlando crash that took place early on Friday morning resulted in the death of one woman and the hospitalization of a delivery truck driver. Police with the Orlando Police Department are currently still investigating the accident, but it seems as though the crash happened just before 3:00 in the morning and involved two vehicles, one of them a large delivery-style truck.

The crash took place between the 1800 block and the 1900 block of Mercy Drive, close to Princeton. A witness to the scene described the woman behind the wheel of the car driving very fast down the road and seemingly directly toward the truck. The witness said that it seemed as though the crash was intentional, although that has yet to be confirmed in any way by the Orlando Police Department. What they have agreed on is that it looks as though the woman—who has not been named—killed in the crash was driving her vehicle at an unusually high rate of speed when the crash took place.

When the two vehicles collided it was head-on. The impact caused the woman’s car to begin to flip, and it rolled over several times before finally coming to a stop. Paramedics and other emergency response individuals arrived shortly after the crash occurred, but there was nothing they were able to do for the badly injured woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known if she was able to be identified by the authorities or if they are still trying to uncover her identity. It is not known if any family members or friends have been reached and notified regarding the crash.

The driver of the truck, also unnamed, was transported by paramedics to a nearby hospital. While he did suffer from injuries as a result of the crash it is not believed that his injuries are life-threatening and he is expected to recover.

Members of the Orlando Police Department closed Mercy Drive from Princeton Street to New Hampshire Street while they conducted the initial investigation, but the entire road was reopened by 8:00 on Friday Morning.
